Most people in Mableton know Jim Mize. They've seen his Twitter handles, @AUSTELLMABLETON and @Jim_Mize, or are friends with him on Facebook at South Cobb. His videos are most of what pops up on YouTube when you search for "Mableton." He even blogged often for South Cobb Patch.
Now, he's getting noticed by the popular gay publication Project Q.
The publication points to two of Mize's recently created YouTube videos about Chick-Fil-A President Dan Cathey's statements supporting traditional marriage, Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day in Austell and gay marriage.
Mize isn't against gay marriage exactly.
“My view of gay marriage is short and to the point,” Mize says in a YouTube video. “If you have a problem with gay marriage, hey, don’t marry someone of the same sex. Problem solved right there.”
Mize did, however, use derogatory terms "queer" and "f*ggot" to describe gays.
The article states, "Thanks for the support, Jim, but “f*ggot” isn’t really a phrase same-sex marriage supporters should toss around."
So I'm supposin' him being a "big name" in Mableton is a misnomer or a facetious attempt at flattery. I have to say that while I support the position of CFA's President, I don't care what people do behind bedroom doors. I do care what some people are trying to do to re-define the term Marriage. Marriage always has & always will be the term applied to the union of a man & woman. To change the meaning of that word to apply to people of the same sex reduces the meaning to useless. This is the same warping of meanings as the term homophobe. A word that actually means a fear of homosexuals. The Political Correct Crowd has re-defined that word as a Hater of Homosexuals. Done simply to cower & silence those who oppose such people. The true facts of Wednesday at CFAs across this country, hundreds of thousands of Americans & others gathered at their local CFA, waited in line, were polite, jovial, respectful & honorable people....along with the friendly, welcoming employees & staff behind the counters. The CFA I visited was packed full, the drive-thru line wrapped around the building & exited out onto the street & the back parking lot. Nary a cross or angry word was uttered by anyone.
It was the media that made the protest bigger than what it actually was. I no longer find it strange that the media (with a few exceptions) always pushes a Liberal & Progressive Agenda while denying that they have bias what so ever. I even see such a bias with this Patch...at times, while seeming to be a fair & impartial news blog, the many editorials seem to exact the Liberal Mantra.
Also, this is not a news blog. It's a news site, but we do have Local Voices blogs. Maybe because we're in a very Democratic area and the blogs come from users in the community (and you're welcome to submit a blog as well!), that it seems that they're liberal. This particular piece is not an editorial. Jim Mize emailed me and let me know about the piece in Project Q and this is a write-up about him being mentioned there. Thanks!
Perhaps I'm parsing words, but then, others seem to do it with impunity. I seem to be opposed nearly every time I post here. Some I expect, as my views are steeped in our history, our Constitution, my strong beliefs of right vs. wrong & my faith. I know that there are those that do not believe in some omni-present, all powerful, creationist 'sky god' & have quite opposite positions on a number of issues. This is a good thing, in that all people should have a say in what they believe. Some seem to take it upon themselves to try to silence those that have opposing views, that is not democracy but more appropriate to those that support a fascist or socialist or communist philosophy. Silence the opposition in order for one's personal beliefs to reign supreme. That certainly, is not nor ever will be democratic. Labels, yes, but then labels explain or describe what things are. If we didn't have labels, how would one know what was in the cans at the grocery store?
