Illegal Immigrant Jesus Cruz Speaks Out

After narrowly avoiding deportation, Mableton resident Jesus Cruz speaks out about being an undocumented resident and about what freedom means for him.

Jesus Cruz, a Pebblebrook High graduate, was facing deportation in July after being granted two two-month extensions to stay in the U.S. despite being arrested for driving without a driver's license.

Because of a policy change issued by President Barack Obama, Cruz is now allowed to stay in the U.S., will not face deportation and is applying for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, a type of work permit which would prevent them from being deported.Β

Hear him speak about his ordeal, his future and what freedom means to him.
