Help Save the Life of 9-Year-Old Liza

Liza, the 9-year-old daughter of a Cobb elementary school teacher, was kicked in the head by a horse and is in need of major medical care.

Patch reader Jonquil Gardener told us that the 9-year-old daughter of a Cobb elementary school teacher was kicked in the head by a horse and is in need of major medical care.

A group of community members initiated a fundraising effort, Hope for Liza, for the injured child, and is collecting donations for Liza and her family.

Liza's mother said her daughter "loves reading, music, softball, and animals."

From a letter posted on Hope for Liza, Patch learned that Liza's skull was patched up with two titanium plates and four screws, and her face also needed reconstruction. Both procedures were successful and Liza's parents said she is "alert and clear headed".
