STEM Education Opportunity

Available STEM school

The Center for Advanced Studies in Science, Math, & Technology at Wheeler HS encourages any prospective student and parent to complete an application before December 6, 2012. Admissions tests will be administered in January 2013. Entrants will be notified in March.

This is a highly competitive High School that serves all eligible eighth grade students in the Cobb system. According to STEM Magnet Coordinator, Dr. Tiffany Stark, this is the only state certified STEM high school in Georgia.

With the failure of two STEM charter initiatives in Cobb recently, students who desire a high quality science and math based education and parents who want to have choices for their children that is not presently available in South Cobb and Smyrna may want to take advantage of the opportunity. For students now at Garrett, Lindley, Floyd, Cooper, and Campbell, this is a real positive development.

This is a present opportunity that can guarantee that those students who can qualify for entry are provided the educational resources and tools needed to participate fully in the science and technology based economy of the 21st century. Local school counselors are the persons to contact for more details.

Please encourage residents to attend CCt flex bus meeting at the South Cobb Library on Tuesday JuneRead More 18t 6pm-8pm. The first meeting only had 11 residents there and none were bus riders. I have encouraged residents that have teens to attend meeting because this help our teens get to jobs or social activities and not just hang out in the neighborhood. We must also plan for the future and underswtrand that just because you are driving today, it may not be the case all the time. Your situation can change with a blink of an eye.
