Survivors Outreach Center Ends Year on High Note

Christmas Event and Community Meeting at Survivors Outreach Center, Inc.

Our second year of participation in the Toys for Tots program was a success. Our organization is very thankful and grateful for Toys for Tots.  It is a blessing that we are able to give away toys to the families in need.

Our organization was able to share with the community several testimonies of three of our volunteers. Mrs. Hanna shared her fifteen years of verbal abuse to the crowd. Her objective was to bring awareness to everyone that verbal abuse is not recognized as real abuse in the criminal sector. The police can't arrest anyone who conducts constant verbal abuse. Verbal abuse has real effects on individuals. Mrs. Hanna was a victim of that abuse from her teenage years way into her late thirties. Mrs. Hanna explained she searched for help from police and other organizations but no help was available. Until now, we at Survivors Outreach Center is here for Mrs. Hanna and her two children. Our second testimony was from a survivor of a very violent domestic abuse Ms. Brenda Ann Miller. Ms. Miller was such a doll. She, first started by entertaining the families as they waited for the toys to arrive. Her domestic violence is the violence that we are used to hearing about. She described to the crowd the difference between LOVE and LUST. She is such a firecracker! Her violence was caused from LUST which she mis-interpreted for LOVE.  As she explained the higher strength of the almighty GOD is the only reason she survived. Our final testimony was from one of our young members who tried to give a well prepared speech but tears kept him back some. He opened up to the entire room and told how he was molested at the age of nine by a family member and his family still as of today has no idea. We were all really touched by this and some of the attendees had to get tissues to wipe the tears from their eyes. We are Survivors Outreach Center where Survivors help other Survivors.
