Mableton Mom Wins $1M Lottery Prize

Ticket was purchased at a Smyrna Kroger.

A Mableton resident is now $1 million richer. Denise Ford matched the first five numbers from the Dec. 27 Mega Millions drawings.

Ford purchased the winning Quik Pik ticket at Kroger, 4715 S. Atlanta Road S.E. in Smyrna, claiming her prize Jan. 9 at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta.

Winning numbers from the drawing were 4-15-35-48-49 and the Mega Ball was 11.

“I had no idea,” said Ford, who works in sales, in a press release from the Georgia Lottery. “It was posted online, and I couldn’t believe it.”

Initially “frozen” in shock, the lucky winner is now bubbling over with excitement. “I jumped up and down and started crying,” Ford recalled.

With an adult daughter, Ford says she will fund a trust with her winnings.
