Mableton Resident Announces Bid for General Assembly

Mableton resident is an Army veteran.

Elden Morris, a Mableton resident for 21 years, has announced his candidacy for the Georgia General Assembly's District 39 seat being vacated by Alisha Thomas Morgan.

Morris, a Vietnam-era Army veteran, was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal and Korean Defense Service Medal. His last assignment was with the Corps of Engineers.

Retired from Yancey Brothers Company, he says he will pay close attention to the infrastructure upgrades in Cobb County due to the construction for the new Braves Stadium.

Morris volunteers with the Boy Scouts and is an amateur radio operator (ham). He is involved with the Amateur Radio Emergency Services as a communicator during emergencies. Morris is a member of the American Legion and Sons of the American Legion where he has held several offices.
