One Dead, One Critically Injured in Overnight Shooting in Midtown

One man is dead and another is in critical condition following a barrage of bullets at a strip center near the intersection of North Avenue and Boulevard late Monday evening.

According to Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones, shortly after 10 p.m. police officers were responding to a 911 call concerning illegal gambling at the North Plaza strip center just south of Midtown in the Old Fourth Ward when shots were fired. Read more on Midtown Patch.

Man Recovering After Being Shot Multiple Times, Suspect Arrested 

A 28-year-old man who was shot multiple times early Sunday morning in south Forsyth County is expected to recover, according to authorities.

The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. in the Twin Lakes RV Park located at 3300 Shore Drive, off Highway 9 in Cumming. When deputies arrived on the scene they heard a woman screaming and found a man lying on the ground between two mobile homes with multiple gunshot wounds. Read more on Cumming Patch.

Carjacking Crew Hits Midtown, Unsuspecting Good Samaritans

A series of recent carjackings that spread from Midtown to the downtown connector to Stone Mountain resulted in several armed robberies and a non-English speaking man being shot in the back of the leg most likely because he didn’t understand what an armed suspect was saying to him.

The crime spree began shortly after midnight this past Friday, Jan. 11, when a female, talking on her phone in a well-lit area on 11th Street, was approached by a man with a gun who quietly robbed her of her phone, purse and personal belongings. Read more on Midtown Patch.
