Are We Truly Thankful?
What's your family's Thanksgiving tradition? Do your kids have a heart of gratitude or are they blazing right past November to December/Christmas just like every retail store in our city?
Here we are in the month of Thanksgiving. I feel like November and this wonderful holiday gets the total shaft. We shove down the stuffing, blaze past the beautiful leaves and run straight to our Christmas tunes.
I am trying to be intentional this year with my little ones about the whole idea of GRATITUDE and being thankful and what that means. They are 2 and 5. What does this look like for them?
It has a lot to do with their environment. Is their mommy happy and content? Or is she complaining and wanting the next thing or more? Am I giving them whatever they want just because they are whining or loud? Or am I teaching them how to have a heart of gratitude?

We are trying a couple things around here to see what sticks. I want there to be a tradition that sticks, one that we love and remember every November that gets our entire family focused on a true heart of gratitude.

I am hoping our November, just like our Thanksgiving meal, won't be rushed and we can savor the beauty of the gifts all around us. Our family, shelter, food, clothing, friends, nature, and every little thing in between. That we won't jump to the oh-so-exciting December too quick. Gratitude deserves it's proper space before ole 'give me gifts' creeps in their heart the next week. More on that later!
