Blog Post: Randy Green Endorsement

RANDY GREEN is Fighting to Keep Businesses and Jobs In Austell

Note: This blog post was written by Charles Black, a friend of Randy Green's. This endorsement is not a candidate profile.

Randy Green was born in Dr. Clark’s Clinic in Austell 53 years ago. He was elected to the Austell City Council At-Large Post 2 in 1999, he has since been re-elected twice.

In his twelve years of service to Austell, Randy has been Chairman of the Parks committee and the General Administration Committee, as well as being a member of most of the other committees. During his years on the Council Randy has voted for the purchase of the Thread Mill Mall and helped manage the city during the massive floods of 2005 and 2009. After the 2009 flood Randy and fellow Councilman Scotty Thomas opened the old grocery store to provide food and supplies to the victims.

Randy opposes any tax increase, and believes that continuing with the current effective management team for Austell, no tax increase will be necessary. Austell, unlike most other local governments, has avoided any lay offs, while maintaining its low tax rate. The Austell tax rate is lower today than on Randy’s first day in office.

In these hard times Randy knows that governments needs to be understanding in the enforcement of local ordinances. Enforcement needs to be performed with compassion for each individual’s circumstances. The floods decimated many homes and businesses in Austell, and he wants the Council to continue to encourage the Austell business community to grow and prosper.

“In this economy, Austell needs to attract new jobs, not run-off the businesses left in City.” he said. “I’ve been self employed for over 15 years, and owned businesses in Austell, I know how important it is to let people know the City is on their side, not against them.”
