The Office of Prevention Services and Programs is seeking to fill the position of Prevention Specialist for Region 3.  The position is located at the State Office at 2 Peachtree Street, Atlanta.

Under direction of the State Prevention Specialist, the primary role is to manage the Substance Abuse Prevention Block Grant funds available for procuring prevention services at the regional level

Supervise regional prevention services/programs through monitoring prevention contracting, contract deliverables, payments, reporting and evaluations. Provide technical assistance to funded providers regarding prevention

Assist in the development of the community prevention infrastructure

 

Qualifications  

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years experience performing work related to area of assignment Or Master's degree in a related field and one year experience performing work related to area of assignment OR Seven years experience performing work related to area of assignment. Note: Some positions may require licensure.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the qualifications above, possess the following:

Experience in managing substance abuse prevention programs

A working knowledge of SAMHSA/CSAP, ONDCP and prevention funding sources (SAPT Block Grant and Safe and Drug Free Schools)

Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Demonstrated proficiency in grant writing, public speaking, group facilitation, training, prevention program development, prevention evaluation, strategic planning and implementation and date compilation
