He acquired the name Milkshake in his early childhood because of his insatiable appetite for milkshakes. To this day, he is recognized by that name by all who know him, personally and professionally in the music industry.

His passion for playing the trumpet and flugelhorn is equally insatiable, and has perpetuated him to become one of the most talented and highly respected musicians in the USA and abroad. "Silky" is descriptive of Milkshake's musical style, and reflects in his smooth and sensuous sound.

Milkshake earned a BA degree in Music from Clark College (now Clark-Atlanta University) in Atlanta. He formed the Milkshake Quartet (MSQ) in 1980, which is widely known for contemporary music, bee-bop and straight ahead jazz, seasoned with a taste of funk, and favored for its unique polyrhythmic music in improvised format. Experience the ultimate in jazz.

Added to Milkshake's credits are several musical compositions and arrangements, and two CDs, "In My Time," which is smooth jazz, and his gospel jazz CD that he is currently working on. In his time, he was lead trumpeter in the Clark College Jazz Orchestra, the Morehouse College Big Band and the Atlanta Band. He actively supports the growth and development of young African Americans who have a passion for music. He has sponsored music enrichment seminars for elementary and high school students in the local community, and mentors to several aspiring young trumpeters. He has performed several gospel concerts for private and professional organizations.

Milkshake performed with Duke Ellington, as a college sophomore. Other noted performances are world renowned Montreux Switzerland Jazz Festival, featuring only the most outstanding artists in the music industry; performances with Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, Wynton Marsalis, Jimmy Owens, Frank Foster, Cab Calloway, Billy Taylor, the SOS band, opening act for Roy Ayers/Ubiquity featuring Melba Moore, Third World, The Dells, Clarence Carter, Millie Jackson, Bobby Byrd and the JBs, Freddie Hubbard, the Reverend Cynthia Wilson, world renowned gospel vocalist, at Carnegie Hall. Milkshake 's most recent appearance is one of the featured artists in the United Negro College Fund Benefit, Salute to Apollo, February 2004, where he performed as the legendary Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong. He also performed with Vanessa Rubin, world renowned jazz artist.

Milkshake's other musical "trophies" include performances at numerous jazz hot spots: La Grande Parade du Jazz in Nice, France; Avery Fisher Hall, Washington, D.C.; Atlanta Montreux International Jazz Fest; Kool Jazz Festival, NYC; National Baptist Convention in Atlanta; Ritz Canton in Atlanta; New Orleans World's Fair; Kingfest Atlanta; Variety Playhouse Theatre in Atlanta; 11th Circuit Court of Appeals Annual Awards Banquet; Peachtree Playhouse Theatre; Northwest Georgia Jazz and Cultural Arts Society. MSQ was the house band at Club Geno's (formerly Marko's) Jazz Lounge in Atlanta for 15 years.

We hope to see you at the show!
