The Cobb County Public Library System is honoring the contributions of women throughout history with several events in March.

Highlights of the library system's Women's History Month celebration include films, book discussions and more.

All events are free and open to the public.

Films

Women's History Month film series are scheduled for Monday evenings at Central Library and Saturday afternoons at West Cobb Regional Library.

Women's History Film Series at Central, Mondays:

  • March 11, 5:30 p.m.: A League of Their Own (PG)
  • March 18, 6 p.m.: The September Issue (PG-13)
  • March 25, 6 p.m.: The Spirit of Sacajawea (NR)

Women's History Month Film Festival at West Cobb, Saturdays at 3 p.m.:

  • March 9: The Hunger Games (PG-13)
  • March 16: Princess and the Frog (G)
  • March 23: Coraline (PG)
  • March 30: Brave (PG)

Exhibit

Beyond Rosie: Women in World War II will be on display at the West Cobb Regional Library through March. The exhibit, on loan from Kennesaw State University's Museum of History and Holocaust Education, shows how the war changed social, cultural and economic realities in the United States, especially for women.

Book Clubs

Book clubs are also celebrating Women's History Month:

  • East Cobb Library will be discussing Blue Nights by Joan Didion on Thursday, March 21 at 11 a.m.
  • Kennesaw Library will be discussing Cleopatra: a life by Stacy Schiff on Saturday, March 23 at 1:30 p.m. and Tuesday, March 26 at 2 p.m.
