Weekend Halloween Fun and Charity Events in South Cobb

Take a run on the Silver Comet Trail, or attend a charity masquerade ball to support South Cobb youth programs.

If you love to run, or just getting out for a brisk walk, you won’t want to miss the 11th Annual Silver Comet Trail Half-Marathon and Fun Run, being held this Saturday. The half-marathon race will begin at 7:30 a.m., at the , and end at the Silver Comet Bike Depot, with the two-mile fun run beginning at 7:45 a.m. Registration for the half-marathon is $85 the day of the race, and $25 for the two-mile fun run. There will also be a Run4Life, one mile and two mile childrens’ fun runs available at a cost of $4 per child. Proceeds from the race will go to benefit local volunteer high school booster clubs. Food and drink at the end of the race will be provided by , Dunkin Donuts, Atlanta Bread Co., Get Fit-Atlanta, and Power Bar. Sure kids love dressing up for Halloween, but a lot of adults do too. Dress up in your best Halloween finery, and come out to the Charity Masquerade Ball, this Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., at the . It will be a fun-filled night full of music, casino games, Mardi Gras style buffet, beverages and plenty of awesome surprises. This charitable event is being sponsored by , with proceeds benefiting a variety of youth support programs in the South Cobb community. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

It’s all about the kids this Halloween, and is making sure your family's spooky night will be a fun and safe one. This Halloween Charity and Open House event, is being held on Monday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the , and will include prizes for the best children’s costumes, fun activities, and plenty of Halloween candy to make the night extra sweet. Donations of candy for give-away bags at the event are being accepted at the on the E. West Connector, or call Heather, at 404-610-4541.

There’s nothing like a good old-fashioned hayride, to get you in that Fall frame of mind. This Saturday, will be holding hayrides through the autumn woods, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. These two mile hayrides,  will be traveling down the White Trail to Jack’s Hill, and will include informative facts about the surrounding area. Reservations are required, and groups of 10 or more should call for personalized reservations. The cost is $5 per person for the ride, plus a $5 parking fee. Call 770-732-5871 to reserve your spot.

Sitting in a pumpkin patch, roasting marshmallows and listening to stories around the camp fire, is great way spend some time outdoors on a cool fall evening. This Saturday, starting at 6 p.m., Midway United Methodist Church will be holding a “”, that’s sure to be entertaining for the entire family. Get some great family pics, and don’t forget to pick up a pumpkin for the big night while you’re there.

Bring the kids out to enjoy a fun and safe Halloween event this year, at the , 12th Annual Fall Festival of Fun this Saturday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Some of the activities at this free event, will  include arts-and-crafts projects, games, inflatable rides, police and fire demonstrations, a photo booth, and costume and coloring contests. Be sure the kids bring their trick or treat bags to receive free candy. There is a nominal fee for concession items and the inflatable rides, but parking and admission to the event is free.

Please encourage residents to attend CCt flex bus meeting at the South Cobb Library on Tuesday JuneRead More 18t 6pm-8pm. The first meeting only had 11 residents there and none were bus riders. I have encouraged residents that have teens to attend meeting because this help our teens get to jobs or social activities and not just hang out in the neighborhood. We must also plan for the future and underswtrand that just because you are driving today, it may not be the case all the time. Your situation can change with a blink of an eye.
