We Covered It All in Our First Year!

We can't believe it's been a year already!

Today marks the first anniversary of the launch of South Cobb Patch! In the past year, we’ve published more than 1,800 stories, posted about 100 of your Local Voices blog posts, broken local news stories and developed a solid online readership.

Check out some of the highlights from our first year:

  • We were there to speak with neighbors after Cobb Police shot a .
  • We held a for the Austell municipal election when no other candidate forums were being held.
  •  We reported when , and we will continue to hold your elected and public officials accountable throughout 2012.
  •  We provided for the Austell municipal elections and had the results posted first as they were hand-counted.
  •  We sponsored the and manned booths at Riverview Landing’s fall festival, Mableton Community Day, events at local schools and more.
  •  We filed a public records request for the personnel record of Officer Sean Henry, the o. We were able to report that Henry had been and had been placed on administrative leave three times in the last five years. We
  • We covered the case of The case garnered international attention, and We have provided numerous updates to this case as well throughout the year.
  • , which is now the new Illegal Immigrant and Enforcement Act of 2011, had several people talking and even Some of them later were One in an effort to meet with Governor Nathan Deal about the new law and the changes he would like to see made. He never had that meeting with Deal.
  • We were there when and we put out the word to help when a young couple lost their beloved dog, Bandit.
