The Weekender: 5K Run for Research, Easter Egg Hunts

Take a look at some of the events going on around Cobb County from Friday, March 29 through Sunday, March 31.

RaceTrac's Run for Research 5K

  • What: RaceTrac's Second Annual "Run for Research" 5K will kick off National Parkinson’s Awareness Month. All proceeds, including 100 percent of registration fees, will go directly to fund The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s ambitious research to help find a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
  • When: 8 a.m-10 a.m., Saturday, March 30
    • Check-in starts 6:45 a.m. and ends at 7:30 a.m.
    • Kids 1K Fun Run starts at 7:30 a.m.

Smyrna Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt & Movie by Moonlight

Enjoy a new twist to a beloved holiday tradition—hunting Easter Eggs in the dark this Saturday, March 30 at Tolleson Park located at 3515 McCauley Road, Smyrna.

Children up to age 10 years are asked bring a flashlight and Easter basket, and will be divided into age groups with the youngest beginning their hunt at dusk. Following the hunt, all are invited to watch the full-length feature film Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (PG rated).

The Broadway Musical "13"

  • What: A musical about growing up and the labels that last a lifetime.
  • When: Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30 at 7 p.m.

Godspell

  • What: Based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, GODSPELL presents a whimsical Jesus and his disciples as they re-enact parables and scenes from Jesus’ life.
  • When: Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Where: Unity North Atlanta Church, 4255 Sandy Plains Rd, Marietta, GA
  • Cost: Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors 65+ and students, available at www.unitynorth.org or at the door.

  • What: Join the Cobb County Republican Party and the Cobb County Young Republicans for their annual Easter Egg Hunt.
  • When: Saturday, March 30 from 11 a.m. to noon.
  • Where: Tumlin Park at Hickory Hills (formerly Hickory Hills Park), 400 Chestnut Hill Rd SW, Marietta

Eater Egg-Stravaganza

  • What: Candy, prizes, inflatables and games. An Easter egg hunt with 4,000 eggs for infants through 5th grade beginning at 10 a.m.
  • When: Saturday, March 30, 10 a.m. to noon
  • Where: Life Church, Smyrna Assembly of God, 4100 King Springs Rd. SE, Smyrna GA 30082

Kennesaw's Easter Egg Scramble

  • What: Head over to Adams Park for an Easter Egg Scramble and other kid-friendly activities including crafts, face painting, inflatables and even a visit from the Easter Bunny. Children will be separated by age groups onto different fields for the Scramble. Each field will feature thousands of colorful wrapped candy treats and goody-filled eggs, along with a few "lucky" eggs that can be redeemed for larger prizes.
  • When: Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to noon
  • Where: Adams Park/Ben Robertson Community Center, 2753 Watts Dr NW, Kennesaw, GA

Powder Springs Easter Egg Hunt

  • What: Come out for an Easter egg hunt, food, live entertainment and games.
  • When: Saturday, March 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Where: 1380 Pine Valley Rd, Powder Springs, GA 30127 (Taylor Farm Park)

St. Teresa's Annual Easter Egg Hunt in Acworth

  • What: St. Teresa's will be holding their annual Easter Egg Hunt at the church location. Stop by to pet live animals, enjoy refreshments, and chat with friends.
  • When: Saturday, March 30, 10:30 a.m.
  • Where: Saint Teresa's Episcopal Church, 5725 Fords Rd NW, Acworth, GA
