The Week Ahead in South Cobb: City Council Meeting, Open Mic Night

Monday

At 11:30 a.m., the Mableton Business Exchange will hold its regular networking meeting at Mexico Lindo. Free for members and $5 for visitors.

At 7 p.m., the Austell City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting at City Hall. Several city employees, such as Duane Demeritt, will be honored for their years of service. Additionally, the city will vote on its budget for the upcoming fiscal year and consider a new disc golf park on about 20 acres of the Louise Suggs Memorial Park.

Also at 7 p.m., the Cobb County School District will also hold a budget hearing at 514 Glover St. in Marietta.

Tuesday

At 6:30 p.m., the UGA Cobb Cooperative Extension staff will offer a two-hour class called "From Your Garden to Your Table," sharing how to prepare and plant a garden and how to preserve and store produce.  Gardening tips will include: site selection, garden planning, soil testing and common diseases and insects.  Canning tips will include: overview of canning equipment, food safety, pressure canning and freezing. Pre-registration is required and the fee is payable at the door. Light refreshments will be served. The event will take place at 678 South Cobb Drive in Marietta.

Wednesday

At 8:30 a.m., the Cobb County Board of Education holds its regular worksession.

At 8 p.m., enjoy the talent of locals in and around South Cobb at REV Coffee's Open Mic Night.

Thursday

The Cobb County Democratic Women meet at 6 p.m. at 2390 Cobb Parkway in Smyrna.

Of course, the South Cobb Rotary Club will hold its weekly luncheon meeting at noon at Austell's Presbyterian Village.
