Board of Commissioners to hold public hearing on 2012 budget

On Wednesday at 2 p.m., the Cobb Board of Commissioners will hold a special called public hearing on the fiscal year 2012 proposed budget. The board desires "to restore funding to public safety, hold benefit costs level, eliminate funding for vacant positions and maintain current service levels," according to a CobbLine Weekly release. All of these are to be achieved while still cutting $7 million from the adopted fiscal year 2011 budget, which was $329 million. The meeting will be held in the BOC Room, on the second floor of 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta. The meeting can also be viewed online at cobbcounty.org/tv23. County government offices closed this Friday and next Monday

All Cobb County government offices will be closed Friday, for a furlough day and Monday in observance of Labor Day.

South Cobb Business Association To Remain at South Cobb Community Center

Members of the South Cobb Business Association voted at the August Luncheon to keep its home venue at the South Cobb Community Center on Lions Club Drive, with 57 percent of the members voting to stay at the center and 43 percent voting to move to Presbyterian Village.

The Sept. 7 SCBA Luncheon will feature Jim Hickey as the guest speaker. Hickey will provide updates on the Freedom Tower- Point Zero in New York City for 911.
