South Cobb and Alabamians Face the Morning After the Storms

On Wednesday, storms and tornadoes ravaged the southeast U.S., especially Alabama and northern Georgia. Were you or your family affected?

On Wednesday, severe winds and tornadoes ripped through North Georgia and throughout Alabama, including Tuscaloosa, destroying homes, buildings and lives. One year ago, I was there in Tuscaloosa earning my master’s degree in community journalism from the University of Alabama. Needless to say, the tornado hit home for me. Watching the videos of the damage there is difficult and heartbreaking.

As a Nashville native, I can say that I’ve experienced my share of tornadoes, so I probably do not get as scared as others, but the aftermath is still just as breathtaking and just as devastating.

If you ride the Silver Comet Trail, which is within walking distance to where I live, it will lead you to the last place I lived and worked in Jacksonville and Anniston, Ala.
