School's Out: Keep the Kiddies Active and Engaged

Uh-oh, you still haven't found anything for the kids to do this week during their break from school? No worries, we've gotcha covered.

School’s out this week for Cobb County students. Not sure what to do with the kids after having them stuck in the house last month for a week?

We’ve got some options for you and your children.

Each of the five Cobb County recreation centers, including the , is offering a youth day camp, which will have fun activities to keep the children busy and engaged during the week. Only a limited number are allowed.  For more information, contact the South Cobb Recreation center at (770) 819-3240.

Children ages 6 to 12 can take part in the ART camp during the break. Shannon Mulkey and Kimberly Ford are instructing the weeklong camp, which has a focus on two- and three-dimensional multimedia and pottery art.  Students must bring their own ready-to-eat lunches. No microwave usage will be allowed. The camp begins today and ends on Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (770) 819-3285. Prices begin at $90 with a $10 supply fee.

The will have a Code Breakers program for everyone ages 9 and up. The program is Tuesday at 3:30 to 4:15 p.m., and attendees will learn the secrets behind some of the world’s most infamous codes. For more information, contact the library at (678) 398-5828. Also at the library on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Keven Lynch will discuss his children’s book, “What’s A Buffalo Soldier?”

With the nice weather to continue throughout the week, one of the many South Cobb parks would be a great place to bring young ones to get rid of all that energy.
