Runners Prepare for Silver Comet 10K

Get ready for a busy Saturday morning in Mableton as runners crowd Floyd Road and the Silver Comet Trail.

Hundreds of runners from around Metro Atlanta and beyond will again descend on Mableton for the Silver Comet 10K race on Saturday.

The race begins at 8 a.m. at Kroger on Floyd Road, so for those not racing, be prepared. However, runners can begin to pick up their race tags and chip timers at 6 a.m.

Shuttles will take all runners back to Kroger for a finish line celebration and no cars are allowed to park at the actual finish line area.

For those interested in participating in the race, registration is $40 on race day, and all proceeds go to benefit community programs and school running programs in Cobb County.

Awards will be given for the top three fastest runners as well as the top three in five age categories. Must be present race day to receive the race t-shirt.

The race is the only 10K at the Silver Comet Trail and is a Peachtree Road Race 2012 qualifier presented by the The Get Fit Atlanta Marathon/Triathlon Club and Training Program. For more information, visit the race website.
