Race Registration Opens

Registration is open now for several races happening in and around South Cobb in the next few months.

Several races are scheduled in and around the South Cobb area in the next few months for runners and walkers alike. Two even include events for children. Here's our roundup of upcoming races:

AJC Peachtree Road Race 

Registration for the AJC Peachtree Road Race begins today through an online lottery and runs through March 22 at 11:59 p.m. There are 60,000 slots available for the 43rd running of the event. Registrants will receive an email by Monday, March 26, informing them if they were selected for the 2012 event.

10th Annual Spring Chicken Run: A Race Against Hunger

This annual event on Saturday, March 24, is a benefit supporting Christian Aid Mission Partnership and includes four races -- a 5K run/walk, a 1 mile run/walk, a spirit walk and a tot trot. This year, the 5K race is an official Peachtree Road Race Qualifier course.

The event will be held at Macland Presbyterian Church at 3615 Macland Road in Powder Springs. Registration is available online, in-store at Big Peach Running Company or by mail using the form found here.

Weekly Mable House Walk

The time for the weekly walk/run at the Mable House Complex has changed from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to still walk or run at 6 p.m. can contact Lee Miller at konaya@att.net.

Mableton Day 5K Road Race

Registration is now open for the Mableton Day 5K Road Race, which is scheduled for May 19. Walker and runners are welcome, and this year's event also will include the Mableton Jr. fun run for participants 12 years of age and younger.
