Pebblebrook's 'Hairspray' Sweeps High School Musical Awards Nominations

The production was nominated for nearly every possible category of the prestigious Shuler Awards. Please congratulate our talented young people.

The has certainly become one of the leading performing arts high schools in the nation and is known for churning out Broadway stars.

It comes as no surprise that the school’s was nominated in 11 of the 15 categories of the Shuler Hensley Awards - The Georgia High School Musical Theater Awards.

The Shuler Hensley Awards honor musical theatre excellence at the high school level.  The program is an initiative of the ArtsBridge education program of the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre Foundation.

A team of over 40 Atlanta-based arts professionals evaluated the participating high school productions, with winners to be announced at a “Tony Awards-style” ceremony on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the .  The ceremony will include performances from the six schools nominated for best overall production, leading actor and actress nominee medleys, with award presentations by local and national celebrities.  A highlight of the show will be cameo appearances by Shuler Hensley. The Shuler Student Ensemble, representing the schools participating in this year’s competition, performs the opening and finale production numbers.

Tickets for the awards ceremony are $15 each plus applicable fees and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com, at any Ticketmaster outlet, by calling 800-653-8000 or purchased in person at the Bank of North Georgia Box Office at Cobb Energy Centre. Box office hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed on Sundays.  The box office is located at 2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30339.
