Music, Manga, Flyfishing and More in South Cobb This Weekend

The Cobb County Classic Rodeo is back and there's plenty of free music to keep you entertained this weekend.

Hugh Vaughn, the leader of his one-man band, will be playing covers by rhythm and blues greats such as BB King and Al Green this Friday night at . This Atlanta-based artist has been entertaining audiences for over four decades and always leaves them wanting more. Stop in early and enjoy a sumptuous meal and cool libation. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

It’s Manga mania this Saturday at the . Each month the South Cobb Library Anime + Manga club hosts a viewing of a previously unseen-in-the-U.S. anime film sure to get your imagination churning. Teens interested in Anime can converse and compare drawings in a fun atmosphere. The meeting and film viewing will begin at 2 p.m. and run until 3:30 p.m. Membership to the club is required. Have yourself a “blues” kind of weekend this Saturday by stopping in at for a live performance by Seminole Jackson. Once named “Blues Band of the Year” by the Atlanta Society of Entertainers, this lively band is sure to keep you entertained. Saturday is also $4 half-pitcher domestic draft beer night, so bring your friends and live it up before those Monday morning “blues” are upon us again.

It’s time to shop and help support the ministries for children at the Twice Blessed children’s consignment sale happening this weekend. This annual event takes place twice a year in March and August and is a great way to enjoy community fellowship with your friends and neighbors. The sale is free to attend and will be taking place on Thusday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., Friday, starting at 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Most items offered on Saturday will be 50 percent off.

Instead of telling stories about that really big fish that got away, learn how to reel him in for sure this time. will be holding an “Introduction to Flyfishing” class this Saturday starting at 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Interested participants should reserve their space by calling 770-732-5871. The cost for the class is $10 and includes the use of a park fishing pole, or you can bring your own gear. A $5 parking ifee is also required.

If you’re looking for a little rock-n-roll to get your body moving this weekend, be sure not to miss Mad Mel and the Underground Sound Band playing live at this Saturday night. Playing rockin’ tunes from bands such as the Beatles, Foo Fighters, U2 and Lynard Skynard, it will be fun times for all. The music starts at 9 p.m., which gives you plenty of time to chow down on some good food before dancing the night away.

Round ‘em up and move ‘em out, it’s time once again for the Cobb County Classic Rodeo. Grab your pardner and the young-ens and head on over to J this weekend for seven big events each night on Friday and Saturday, starting at 8 p.m. With bronco riding, barrel racing and a host of other entertainment, there will be plenty of fun for all ages. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children. Kids under 5 years old get in free.
