Move, Fly and Groove This Weekend in South Cobb

Get moving, go flying and start grooving with various activities in and around South Cobb this weekend.

This weekend in and around South Cobb has a host of activities to help you get fit, keep you soaring (literally) and get you in the groove with great high school bands from across the South.

Mableton Day 5K Training: Are you ready? The Mableton Day 5K Run is only two weeks away on May 19. Want a little extra training to help you get in shape? Train with friends and neighbors with the Mableton Improvement Coalition's training group on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre.

Helicopter Day: Bring out the family on Saturday for a fun-filled day of helicopter rides and history at the Marietta Musuem of History Aviation Wing. For the cost of $35, children and parents can fly out in helicopters to Kennesaw Mountain and back. Cash only. Fourth Annual Pebblebrook Band Faceoff: Marching bands from across the Atlanta area, the states of Alabama and Louisiana will compete at the fourth annual Pebblebrook Band Faceoff. Admission is $5 in advance and $10 at the gate, and the bands begin at 3 p.m. Support students in our community doing positive things and showing off their talents. All-American & Hometown Trivia: Help benefit Austell-based Cobb Street Ministries and Our Father's Hands nonprofits this weekend by playing trivia and sipping wine. Flex those trivia muscles at Arts of Cobb at 19 Powder Springs Street in Marietta. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 per person and include free food and beverages, door prizes and goody bags stuffed with items from local businesses. Sip on wine from the cash wine bar. The silent auction includes sports memorabilia, framed art, jewelry, handbags, get-a-ways, and "man cave" items.

Purple Frog Tours the World book launch party: Fraternal twins, Autumn and Alex, will read an excerpt from their book, Purple Frog Tours the World. They will also autograph copies of their books as well. A portion of the proceeds from the day of the book launch party will benefit the United Nations Foundation Shot @ Life campaign. The book launch party will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at BTT Funsupport at 5055 Austell Road.
