Last-Minute South Cobb Valentine's Date Ideas

A roundup of the best places to go or things to do for Valentine's Day in South Cobb.

Still not sure where to take your special someone for Valentine’s Day? You can always be very impressive and cook a meal yourself in your own home with candlelight and some decadent dessert. However, here are some other alternatives for celebrating Valentine’s Day:

  •   Usually closed on Mondays, but will be open from 4  p.m. to 10 p.m. on Valentine’s Day. They have a Valentine’s special that is running the whole month of February: $39.95 for an appetizer, bread, two salads, two main courses, dessert to share and two glasses of wine. Giovanni’s was voted one of the best restaurants in Marietta last year, but we have a location right here in Austell on East-West Connector.
  • Japanese steakhouses with the Hibachi grill are almost always fun dates because watching your dinner be prepared in front of you in such a unique way is like a mini-show. It takes the edge off if it’s one of the first few dates because conversation comes easy when a subject is right in front of you. Maybe you have to bring the kids with you. On Sundays, kids eat for $3.95. There is $1 sushi all day on Sunday and on Monday and Tuesday nights. They have many specials running until March 3, but here are a few of the couples' specials:  $47.95 for two lobster and filet mignon dinners., $42.95 for two steak, chicken and shrimp meals, and $35.95 for two filet mignon and chicken dinners.
  • . Although they are not doing anything special this Valentine’s Day weekend, there’s something romantic about Italian food, and the Italian Oven does Italian well.
  • , or any other South Cobb Park. South Cobb has more parks than any other area in the county. Now, this is not to be tried if you are not a romantic. This weekend is going to be sunny with temps in the 60s, so thankfully, a romantic should be able to pull this off without the shivering and chattering teeth. Grab a picnic basket, a blanket, some drinks and a meal that you prepared yourself but won’t become soggy or ruined by sitting in a picnic basket or outside. Want to be really impressive? Bring candlesticks, candlestick holders and matches, as well as her/his favorite soda or juice.
  • Cook together at Eat.Cook. Love.  It's a cooking class demo for couples that teaches them about aphrodisiac ingredients and "the art of eating and savoring food," according to the event website. The event is $50 and includes the workshop and food. It takes place on Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mableton's Stoneybrook Subdivision at 551 Stoneywood SE Trace. UPDATE: Feb. 14 at 4:19 p.m. The organizers of Eat. Cook. Love informed South Cobb Patch via e-mail that they have postponed the event due to lack of participation. However, when they host the event again, South Cobb Patch will have the details.
