Five Things You Need to Know Today Jan. 19

Here's the rundown of things you need to know in South Cobb today.

1.  Today the sun is out and the high will be in the 50s. Hard to believe that just last week the entire city was covered in a blanket of ice. According to the forecast from the National Weather Services, you can expect a slight drizzle this morning and this evening with patchy fog throughout the first part of the day.

2. The Mableton Business Exchange will meet at 8:30 a.m. at for its first meeting of 2011. The Mableton Business Exchange is a newly formed networking group that meets weekly to exchange leads, share expertise and form friendships.

3. The Roswell Fine Arts Alliance will have artwork from its member on display in the gallery of the beginning today until Feb. 28.

4. The City of Austell will collect household recycling today. For those in Mableton or other unincorporated areas of Cobb County, please contact your regular garbage collection company to find out any changes in schedule due to last week’s winter storm. Here is a list of the ones servicing Cobb County.

5. Parents, don’t forget that students will be taking the Eighth Grade Writing Exam on Wednesday. Make sure they have a hearty breakfast before heading off to school.
