Family Traveling Coaster-to-Coaster Stops at Six Flags Over Georgia

The Dahlin family are visiting five Six Flags parks in three weeks.

Even though he will have visited five different Six Flags amusement parks in three weeks’ time, Kyle Dahlin said every time he enters one of the parks he feels “nervousness. It’s a good feeling.”

The Dahlin family of Southern California visited Six Flags Over Georgia on Monday as part of their coast-to-coast road trip. The Austell amusement park was the third on their journey to visit five different Six Flags parks across the country.

The family, which consists of Kurt and his wife, Michelle and their two sons, 15-year-old Kyle and 12-year-old Aaron, were chosen for the trip as part of the Discover Coaster to Coaster Tour. (Discover Card is the official credit card of Six Flags. ) They were given a 2011 Ford Flex to drive as they trek from California to Texas to Georgia to New Jersey and lastly to Illinois.

Kurt said the experience is one “that doesn’t come along every day.” He added that he realized that this trip would help build memories with his wife and teenaged sons, who have a mobile hotspot and plenty of electronics to stay busy.

The family has made stops along the way at various American landmarks, like the Grand Canyon.

“It’s been a really good bonding time,” said Kurt, whose favorite memory so far has been the family’s visit to Cadillac Ranch in Texas.

The Dahlins had a blast on some of the biggest coasters Six Flags Over Georgia has to offer, including the newest, Dare Devil Dive.

“The new coasters are the most exciting,” said Kurt, who, like his other family members, is a rollercoaster enthusiast. Even before winning the trip, the family held season passes to their local Six Flags park.

The Dahlins are blogging about their experiences at the amusement parks and on the road at CoastertoCoasterTour.com.
