Everyday Marinara Sauce

So, you just got home from work, the kids are running around, and you’re trying to come up with something quick and easy for dinner that they will actually eat. John and Patty to the rescue.

This marinara is sure to be a hit, and all the vegetarians you know will love it.  You will be the family hero, with or without the cape.

To make sure we always have sauce on hand in the refrigerator for unexpected guests, we double the recipe.  Add a crisp, mixed green salad and you’re all set!!

Just for fun, try the new kid-friendly pastas in all colors and shapes!  Enjoy!

Recipe: Every Day Marinara Sauce

Ingredients:
¼ cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/3 of a medium size Onion, minced
2 Garlic Cloves, grated
3 - 28 oz. cans Tomato Sauce
Pinch of Salt
1/8 tsp. Black Pepper
1/8 tsp. Garlic Powder
2 tbsp. each of dried basil, oregano, and parsley

Directions:

Heat saucepan over medium heat, add olive oil and onions and saute 2 minutes.  Grate in the garlic and sauté another minute.  Add sauce and spices, stirring to mix all the ingredients together.  Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer 15-20 minutes. Serve over your favorite pasta.  Cover and refrigerate any remaining sauce to enjoy later in the week!
