Come Out for Watch Night Services at South Cobb Churches

Get out the noisemakers and blackeyed peas, the New Year is nearly upon us. 

The first year of the second decade of the 21st century is coming to a close.

Many choose to ring in the new year at church for what is now called Watch Night service. The term "watch night" refers to the freeing of black slaves in the United States and how on New Year's Eve 1862, African Americans  anticipated the new year in which President Abe Lincoln was scheduled to sign the Emancipation Proclamation.

Kingdom of Christ Church Ministries, formerly of 6105 Mableton Parkway in Mableton will host its New Year's Eve Watch night service at their brand new location at The Fulton Plaza, Suite 1, 4485 Fulton Industrial Blvd., Atlanta at 9 p.m.  www.kccministries.org

, 592 Veterans Memorial Highway, Austell, 770-941-4131 invites the community to a night of music, prayer, and fellowship starting at 5 p.m., www.trinitytbc.com

Faith Christian Center, 3059 South Cobb Drive, Smyrna, 770-433-8800, will be having its New Year's Eve service at 9 p.m. with Bishop Keith A. Butler via sattelite and special musical guest Trent Cory.
