Bin Laden is Dead; Tell South Cobb Patch Where You Were When You Learned the News

After nearly a decade, one of the most wanted terrorists has been killed by American forces.

Osama bin Laden, the man who orchestrated the 9/11 attacks, is dead as a result of a firefight, and his body has been retrieved and is in American custody, according to The New York Times.

Nearly 10 years ago, the World Trade Center twin towers came crumbling down in New York City right before our eyes. Nearly 3,000 U.S. citizens were dead as a result of the attacks, which included one on the Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93, which had been redirected by those on board to a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, saving countless lives.

As Americans, we will always remember where we were when we watched the Sept. 11 attacks, when we watched the planes crash into the buildings, when we watched the country, as we knew it, change instantly and permanently.

Now, we will remember where we were when we listened to President Barack Obama tell us about how he directed the operation that took out bin Laden and left American soldiers unharmed.

“And on nights like this one, we can say to those families that lost loved ones to Al Qaeda’s terrorism, 'justice has been served,' ” Obama said.
