Avery Showell: Dynamo on and off the field

This week's Whiz Kid is making great strides on the football field, while still making honor roll.

This week’s Whiz Kid is Avery Showell, a 12-year-old seventh grader at Garrett Middle School.

Avery is an honor roll student, who was recognized by the Georgia Youth Football Association as the No. 1 sixth grade player in the state last year for his season with the South Cobb Ravens in the Metro Atlanta Youth Football league.

Vaughn Showell, his father and the person who nominated him, said MAYFL is “the SEC of youth football.”
