United Way of Greater Atlanta announced today that corporate partner Gas South opened 2-1-1 Resource Rooms at its two office locations in Cobb County. The rooms are equipped with technology and resources for Gas South's 150 employees to search United Way's 2-1-1 database, chat live with 2-1-1 representatives, apply to the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program or read printed materials. 2-1-1 connects people to the assistance they need to address everyday challenges of living, as well as those that develop during times of community emergencies.
“This partnership provides the tools and resources necessary to promote individual growth, as well as a safe environment to address our employees' human service needs,” says Kevin Greiner, Gas South’s president and CEO. Greiner served as the 2012 chairman of the United Way of Greater Atlanta's work-place campaign. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 2-1-1 Resource Rooms was held earlier this summer at Gas South’s call center location.
In addition to partnering with United Way for its 2-1-1 Resource Rooms, last year Gas South and its employees contributed nearly $100,000 to United Way.

By the end of 2012, United Way 2-1-1 had answered more than 4.7 million calls. It continues to serve as a model for similar services nationwide, as well as a barometer of critical needs in Greater Atlanta.
