[Update] Winter Storm Warning: South Cobb Timeline
National Weather Service says 1 to 2 inches of snow possible.
Updated, Tuesday, Jan. 28, 8:30 a.m.:
Early Tuesday morning the National Weather Service upgraded Monday's winter storm watch to a warning, in effect from 9 a.m. this morning to 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Accumulations from 1 to 2 inches of snow are now expected for all of the metro area. The snow may begin as early as mid-morning and last close to midnight. The NWS warns that snow-covered roads will make travel treacherous through Wednesday morning.

A winter storm watch is in effect for metro Atlanta from Tuesday, Jan. 28, starting at 10 a.m. until Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service, less than a half inch of accumulation is possible Tuesday afternoon and evening. Here's the NWS timeline for what South Cobb, Austell and Mableton can expect:
- Tuesday: Slight chance of snow and sleet before 1 p.m. then snow likely with a high near 27. Wind gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 80 percent. Snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
- Tuesday night: Snow mainly before 10 p.m. with a low around 18. Wind gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation 80 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
- Wednesday: A 10 percent chance of snow before 7 a.m., then mostly sunny with a high near 36. Wind gusts as high as 20 mph.
