I'm Coco, your friendly neighborhood Golden Doodle, here to bark about something truly important: the Primary Election for Chair of Cobb County! I'm not one to usually stick my paw into politics, but when it comes to advocating for a candidate who truly cares about our furry friends and the community at large, I couldn't stay silent about someone special: Shelia Edwards, our next Chairperson for Cobb.
While she might not be my biological mom, she's certainly earned the title of "Pet Mom" in my books. Whenever my real mom is away, Shelia steps in to make sure I'm well taken care of. She's got a heart of gold and a commitment to making Cobb County a better place for all of us, both two-legged and four-legged residents.
Early voting is occurring now, so when you head to the polls or fill out those absentee ballots, think about who's going to have your back and the best interests of our community in mind. Elect Yashica Marshall for Cobb County Commissioner for District 4

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter, is hosting their 27th Annual Unsung Heroines Awards Gala entitled “Leading Legacy: Shining Bright Through Generations” on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Among the 2024 honorees are fallen Georgia service members who will be presented the Presidential Award posthumously. They include Sgt. Breonna Moffett, Sgt. Kennedy Sanders, and Staff Sgt. William Rivers. In the wake of a drone attack that took their lives on January 28, the U.S. Army Reserve posthumously promoted Sanders and Moffett from Spc. to the rank of Sergeant, while Sgt. Rivers was promoted to Staff Sergeant. 
 
The three service members were killed in a weekend drone attack at a base in Jordan in January. They were part of the 718th Engineer Company, 926th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade. Each were army reservists based in Georgia. Rivers, 46, was from Carrollton, Sanders, 24, was from Waycross, and Moffett, 23, was from Savannah. Family members of the fallen soldiers will attend the Gala to accept their awards. 
As the organization seeks to honor them with the highest award, the Presidential Award, President Belinda Walker expressed her sadness on the loss of life of the three service members saying, “These three fallen heroes represent the best of us. To safeguard our nation, American soldiers, like Sgt. Moffett, Sgt. Sanders, and Staff Sgt. William Rivers, courageously put their lives on the line every day to defend and protect our country. We honor their service and their sacrifice. With honor, we will respectfully present these awards to their families to reaffirm our commitment to always remembering and cherishing their memory.

Humanitarian Award: Eslene Richmond-Shockley 
Millennial Award: Stacey Chavis 
Pioneer Award: Roselyn Lewis 
Trailblazer Award: Eulonda Washington 
Unsung Heroines Award: Gabrielle Dillard, Temple Lester, and Cameryn Polk 
 
Mark your calendars now for the Unsung Heroines Gala on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Whitley Hotel, located in Buckhead, at 3434 Peachtree Road Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30326. The cocktail/silent auction begins at 6:00 p.m., and the awards program begins at 7:00 p.m.

There are two different ticket levels for this event.
Regular tickets: This ticket is good for one general admission seat into the 2-hour John Edward event.
VIP tickets: 
Each VIP ticket includes a 3-month subscription to Evolve Plus (John's new app). 
Also included in the as a VIP is the opportunity to stay after the event for a conversation, question and answer session with John and the other VIPs. 
This event lasts a minimum of 20 minutes right after the regular event. In addition to that each person holding a VIP ticket gets to bypass the regular line and join a special VIP line. In addition to the live event, VIPs will be given access to a special virtual event you can participate in from the comfort of your home ($100 value). That’s two events for the price of one!
