The Austell Community Market took place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the corner of Jefferson and Mulberry streets in downtown Austell. Vendors, craftsmen and farmers came from all around to contribute their goods and services to the community of Austell. The event had two separate lots across from one another where vendors set up booths and a variety of food and refreshments were served. Check out the photo gallery for highlights of this event.
To celebrate the success of the sixth annual Mableton Community Day, an "afterparty" was held at Mexico Lindo, which was named Business of the Year at the event. Attendees of the event enjoyed a live band and authentic gourmet Mexican barbecue.
About 30 community members stopped in for free hamburgers, hot dogs and lively conversation at Back 2 Back Family Chiropractic's Mableton Community Barbecue. Attendees were also able to get a free personal chiropractic analysis.
School's out, and summer is here. That means it's time for farmer's markets, summer pools and jumping in fountains with your bathing suit on. South Cobb has plenty to offer for summer fun, including the Six Flags newest coaster, the Dare Devil Dive, which opened officially on Saturday. During a Celebration of Reading at Clay Elementary, the South Cobb Kiwanis Club gathered over 2,500 books and awarded over 500 students books of their own. Kiwanis International has introduced new memebership initiatives to grow clubs, with one main objective to help children within the communities. The Kiwanis Club meets every second and fourth Wednesday every month at O'Charley's at the intersection of Austell Road and East West Connector. The Mableton Improvement Coalition held its first community mixer this past week at Mexico Lindo. Residents and community members of Mableton came out, chowed down on fajitas and had a good time meeting their neighbors and learning how to use their talents to serve their community.

The Royal Flush Crew is a dance squad lead by Q Harper of Mableton. The dancers travel on tour to dance for live performances, television, and music videos. Every Thursday, Q Harper holds hip hop dance classes (Royal Swagg Class) at the Ron Anderson Recreation Center from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dancers who want to participate can just show up for classes, which are $5. Hundreds of participants came from all over to run the Silver Comet Trail through Mableton for Atlanta'a last 2011 Peachtree Qualifier, the 13th Annual Silver Comet Trail 10K Marathon. The event was sponsored by several businesses, including Get Fit Atlanta, Atlanta Bread, Big Peach Running Co. and others.
