UPDATE: Police Arrest, Charge Austell Man in Kidnapping and Rape Case

Police arrested a 21-year-old man from Austell, who is suspected of kidnapping and raping a woman on Tuesday morning.

UPDATE Oct. 28 at 1:07 p.m.:

Police have arrested the man suspected of kidnapping a woman at gunpoint after she left an Austell CVS and then forcing her to drive to various locations where he robbed and raped her.

On Friday morning, the Cobb County Sheriff's Fugitive Unit in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 21-year-old Darrious Deandre Mathis of Austell.

Mathis is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on felony charges of kidnapping, hijacking motor vehicle, possession of firearm during the commission of a crime, rape and aggravated sodomy.

On Tuesday at approximately 1:30 a.m., an armed man abducted a 24-year-old woman who was walking out of the CVS Pharmacy at 800 East-West Connector in Austell.

The armed suspect forced the woman into her car where he instructed her to drive to various locations in Atlanta where he raped her. Then he made her drive to various ATM locations in Metro Atlanta and forced her to withdraw money from her accounts.

The suspect then got out of the car, after receiving an undisclosed amount of money, and fled on foot.

And since they have such a good photo of him from the store, this should be simple. Try him, convict him, and put him away for a long time. Our police forces (county and cities) are proving that they are good. Of course, it helps to have a picture of the bad guy!

Yea, but he didn't just live down the street, and he had armed guards.

I support Cobb County Police. I know that Cobb has a reputation of being a "police county" but I'm glad they are tough!!

I'm sure his momma will be on the news hollering "He's such a good boy". Throw away the key. He's a thug plain and simple!

I just heard on the news that he probably should not have been out of jail to do this. I didn't get to hear the whole story, just the lead in. Apparently this isn't his first crime. And since his whole face and body is on the camera in the CVS and he left the lady alive (thank God) to identify him, he's also not the smartest criminal out there.
