Smooth Grooves, 120-year Church Anniversary & More This Weekend
Listen to great jazz tunes at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre on Saturday, or join in the celebration of 120 years of community fellowship at the Austell Presbyterian Church.
Get your smooth groove on, and help support a good cause, at the "Jazz, Jazz and More Jazz" concert being held this Saturday at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre. The concert will begin at 7 p.m., with opening act The Infinite Sound Family, followed by the 24-piece Westside Winds Jazz Orchestra and will conclude with a performance by international performing and recording artist, Myrna Clayton. The concert is being presented by ASA Music Productions, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Children’s Health Care of Atlanta. There’s no better time to enjoy an afternoon of shopping and networking, than at this Sunday’s “A Phenomenal Affair Ladies Expo Event,” being held at the Presbyterian Village from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Being sponsored by Amazing Memorable Extraordinary Eloquent Events or A.M.E.E., this expo will showcase a variety of vendors who offer products and services specifically geared toward women. There will be raffle prizes and light refreshments throughout the afternoon, as well as facials and messages performed on-site. Come out and help the Austell Presbyterian Church celebrate their 120th Anniversary this Saturday, by attending a community block party, featuring live musical entertainment and a southern-style barbecue. Entertainers include local Christian acoustical/vocal duo, Rich Millett and Ben Annis and will end with a performance by Mableton resident, Al Holley. This event is free, and open to the general public.
Sample Chilean wines, taste chef prepared foods and listen to some good old-fashioned country music this Saturday, at the Arts D’Vine Artist Market being held at the Saint Benedict’s Episcopal Church in Smyrna from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The artists' market, along with the wine and food tasting, begins at 5 p.m., followed by a musical performance by Pat Terry at 7 p.m. Many of Terry’s songs have been recorded by country singer greats, Travis Tritt, Kenny Chesney and Tanya Tucker, just to name a few. Spend a beautiful fall day outdoors, and help restore your local state park’s grasslands at Sweetwater Creek State Park this Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Oct. 1 is National Public Lands Day - Native Plant Restoration Volunteer Day, and Sweetwater Creek is needing local volunteers to help plant more than 1,000 seedlings of native grass on the “Jack’s Hill” area of the park. The Vinings Jubilee shopping center, will be celebrating their 25th anniversary this Saturday starting at 6 p.m., by hosting an outdoor celebration, complete with live entertainment, beer and wine stations, and a variety of food tents offering cuisine from local restaurants. A local jazz band will kick-off the party at 6 p.m., followed by the popular headlining group, Yacht Rock Schooner at 7:30 p.m. The celebration is free, but food and beverages must be paid for with pre-purchased tickets, which will be available at the event.
It will be a day full of fun for all ages this Saturday, at the Lithia Springs United Methodist Church’s “Fall Festival and ArtFest” starting at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. There will be arts and crafts, delicisous food, pumpkin decorating, games, a zip line, talent show, and a free drawing for two new bicycles. The event is free to the public and open to all.
