Mableton Man Could Face Charges in Fatal Wreck

A woman was killed and four others were hurt in the accident on Wednesday on Bankhead Highway.

A Douglasville woman was killed and four other people were injured Wednesday in a two-car crash on Bankhead Highway.

One of the injured was an 18-month-old who was flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite hospital and another person was taken to Douglas Wellstar for treatment, according to Gordy Wright, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol.

The Douglas County Coroner's office told Channel 2 Action News that the male motorist was westbound on Bankhead when he fell asleep, struck a truck and then collided with a car driven by a 57-year-old woman.Β

The woman, Ivery I. Mattox Parks, was killed, and two adults and a child in her car were injured, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The male driver was identified as Theo Roberts, 23, of Mableton. The AJC reported that he was taken to a hospital for treatment and could face charges in the accident.

The accident happened west of Burnt Hickory Rd., at about 5 p.m. Since the crash occurred before the start of the holiday period, it will not be included in the holiday traffic count.
