Logan Groover: This Whiz Kid Works Wonders in Art and Music

This week's whiz kid has a creative streak that helps him succeed in visual arts and in music.

Cooper Middle School art teacher Amelia Johnson nominated this week's Whiz Kid, 13-year-old Logan Groover. He's a seventh grader at Cooper Middle School and is quite skilled in the arts.

Whether he's holding a paintbrush or a violin bow, he's creating masterpieces and delighting the senses. There is no doubt that Logan has a great creative future ahead of him, and that's why he is this week's South Cobb Patch Whiz Kid!

Youth’s Accomplishment:

Logan won first place in the Cooper Middle School Reflections Visual Art Contest.  His artwork, celebrating diversity and the legacy of the civil rights movement, was also chosen to represent Cooper Middle School in the "Dream Art Contest" (http://thedreamartcontest.com/).  Logan received a "superior rating" for his part in a solo ensemble sponsored by the District 12 Georgia Music Education Association. Logan plays the violin and plays an active roll in the Cooper Middle School Orchestra.  On the weekends and afternoons, Logan continues his passion for music by playing with the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra.

“Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness” (What made him/her successful?)

Logan is an amazing person because of his incredible attitude and willingness to participate. Logan consistently tries his hardest in class and is particularly innovative in art class; he always has unique ideas and perspectives to share. Logan exhibits an affinity for the fine and creative arts through his amazing contributions to Visual Arts class and through his active participation in various orchestras playing his violin. Known for his quiet persona, Logan is always "present" and active in school activities. Logan takes his commitments seriously and always follows up independently with teachers when needed. Logan is exemplary for his sense of personal responsibility.

Congrats, Logan! South Cobb Patch is proud to honor you as this week's Whiz Kid!
