UPDATE: Identities, Mugshots of 7 Home Invasion Suspects Released
The eighth suspect is being held in Cobb County and his identity has not yet been released.
Police have released the identities of seven of the eight men they believe may be connected to a recent rash of home invasions of Indian families in Metro Atlanta, including last week’s incident in Mableton.
According to Roswell Patch, Roswell police have charged the following men with armed robbery of a Roswell-area family, and more charges could come:
- Hector Jesus Claudio-Martinez, 28, of Houston, TX.
- Jamie Ruben Gutierrez-Perez, 21, of Marietta.
- Brayan Estiven Preciado-Mosquera, 22, of Marietta.
- Victor Hugo Preciado-Montano, 27, of Houston.
- Joel Fontanes-Martinez, 33, of Marietta.
- Angel Manuel Soto-Serrano, 32, of Houston.
- Manuel Angel Garcia-Gome, 25, of Atlanta.
The eighth man arrested in connection with the case is being held in Cobb County, and his name has not been released.
The men "may be connected to the other crimes; we are checking," Roswell police spokesman Lt. James McGee told Roswell Patch on Friday about whether thes men were involved in a rash of other burglaries seemingly targeting Asian Indians.
The specific ethincity is reportedly being targeted for their gold, since the value is continuing to go up.
The eight men arrested are charged with breaking into a home in Hadfield on Dec. 28 around 7:35 p.m. and tying up the homeowner, Raj Sharma, as well as knocking his wife down a flight of stairs once she and their children returned home from the grocery store.
Police believe the men arrested for Wednesday's robbery may be connected to similar cases targeting metro-area Asian Indian families. A similar home invasion, in which a couple was tied up, took place in Mableton on Dec. 27 and also in Alpharetta during September and November.
McGee told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the suspects hired attorneys and are not cooperating with police.
