Cobb County’s African-American trailblazers will be honored as part of Black History Month at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Marietta on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Click here for tickets. Bishop Paul S. Morton will be the musical guest for the evening and Reggie Gay is the master of ceremonies. Austell’s own Rep. Alisha Thomas Morgan will be one of the honorees, along with Eloise Wright, a centurion and educator, Cobb NAACP President Deane Bonner and others.
Prepare to be entertained and impressed at Friday Night’s Epidemic City Radio Night at Rev Coffee in Smyrna at 8. This monthly radio troupe is set to dazzle your ears with the sounds in the style of old radio plays from the 1940s and before. Mix it up and come “hear” what all the fuss is about as we explore comedies, dramas and even sci-fi themes. The event is free!
Have you been working on your p-p-p-poker face? Well, show it off at a free poker game at Bella’s Pizzeria at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Entry is free and top three places win $25, $15, $10 bar cash. Plus the top 10 winners earn points to be entered into Bella’s quarterly tournament where the first place prize is $500. Show up early and bring friends for extra chips.
