Fun Activities to Get You Out and About on Thanksgiving Day in South Cobb

Run for charity, take in a movie, family bowling, or enjoy the great outdoors.

If you want to get out of the house on your Thanksgiving day off, something along the lines of losing yourself in a good movie might be appealing. Regal 22 Cinemas will be open all day starting at 11:30 a.m., offering a variety of movies to keep you and the family entertained for hours. Regular ticket pricing applies. This could be a great time to catch the new Twilight movie, hopefully without all the crowds.

For something that’s fun for everyone and still leaves room for conversation, Brunswick Zone Austell, will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight on Thanksgiving day, with affordable bowling options all day. From 11:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., games are just $1.99 each, increasing to $3.99 each after 6 p.m. For larger groups of up to six people, you can purchase the Family Funtastic deal, which includes two hours of bowling, shoe rental and a pitcher of soda for $54.99.

A great way to commune with nature and engage friends and family in a lively conversation, is to get out and enjoy the splendor of nature. With the mild climate, and variety of public parks, South Cobb offers families and individuals a great alternative to staying couped up in the house all day. Sweetwater Creek State Park for example, is a 2549-acre park, with picnic areas, a 215-acre lake for fishing, nine miles of trails, and so much more. Of course the Silver Comet Trail, is another alternative to staying in, with 12.8 miles of paved trail, just right for viewing the colorful autumn leaves. Enjoy the trail by bike, by stopping by the Silver Comet Depot located at 4342 Floyd Road in Mableton, on Wednesday before 6 p.m., and take advantage of their 24 hour bike rental service.
