Amtrak Train Hits 18-Wheeler in Austell
No injuries were reported among the train's passengers.
An Amtrak train hit an 18-wheeler in Austell at 9:14 a.m., according to Austell police.
Rescue crews are on the scene.
Police Chief Bob Starrett said none of the 70 passengers on the train were injured.
Starrett said it's unclear why the truck driver pulled in front of the train.
"This usually happens two or three times a year," in Austell, Starrett said.

You know, it's real easy to see a train coming on any part of the track in Austell. I will admit that the crossing at one point is confusing where you have the two tracks, but I really can't understand how something like this happens. Is the truck driver okay?

Two of my friends were the engineers on Amtrak. The truck tried to cross the crossing at Humphries Hill Rd where some of the trailers get stuck, and it did.

Maybe they should not allow trucks to cross right there. It's a recipe for disaster, apparently.

I am amazed how many train accidents have been in douglas/Cobb the past year.

You'd think that the word would spread to trucking companies which tracks are bad for their trucks = bad for business.

My son and I went by there last Saturday after we went to see Amtrak with our friend as the engineer and there are signs on both sides of that crossing that warn the drivers not to cross there.
